New employees at MASU Planning's Helsinko Office

Say hi to Linnea and Helena

Please, meet Linnea and Helena. Our new employees at our Helsinki Office.

Linnea Westerlund rejoined MASU Planning as a landscape architect MARK. Linnea graduated from Aalto University in 2022 and has since worked at Näkymä Oy.

She wrote her master’s thesis on Green Infrastructure for the City of Vaasa and interned at Helsinki’s Detail Planning Department. During her studies, she also worked part-time as a Junior Landscape Architect at MASU Planning, so we are more than pleased to have her back.

“Today, we are more than ever aware of how construction impacts our environment. Every action, big or small, affects nature, biodiversity, and emissions. Therefore, I believe landscape architecture is more important than ever—it’s about shaping our environment with the outmost care while ensuring that we protect and preserve our ecosystems delicate balance,” says Linnea.

In her spare time, Linnea enjoys long-distance running in all seasons and weather, along with her favorite running club in Helsinki, Mellow Minutes. The only time you won’t find her running is when she’s sailing in her favorite Finnish national park — the Archipelago Sea.

Furthermore, Helena Voula has also joined our Helsinki location as our new junior architect.

Helena has just completed her bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Aalto University and will begin her master’s studies this fall.

She also holds a master’s degree in music as a cellist from the University of the Arts Helsinki. “In the future, I hope to combine my backgrounds in landscape architecture and music in a unique way,” Helena continues.

“I see landscape architecture as a way to create spaces that support and enhance our well-being, while positively impacting other species and our environment,” Helena says.

As a junior landscape architect at MASU Planning, Helena is involved in projects of various scales and enjoys learning the different aspects of the profession.

“I appreciate that MASU Planning creates spaces that enrich life and the surroundings in many ways. The approach addresses historical, ecological, and well-being aspects. The office has its own identity and style, which is both soothing and stimulating.”
