The school at Thorvaldsensvej is pushed in a bit from the street, and our project park clearly shows how even a tiny space like this can have a great impact on the streetscape.

The small entrance area was previously a leftover space paved with asphalt, neither useful nor interesting. Instead, it’s now an atmospheric green pocket that welcomes you to the building and allows any by-passer to sit down for a shaded break among the perennials and trees. Here’s room for a group talk or quiet reflection and most importantly it’s a green addition to the street. The poor asphalt pavement is replaced by granite cobblestones as an extension of the sidewalk, a classic and long-lasting material. Low concrete wall with benches adds multiple seating options and the raised planting bed both frames the stay areas and enables planting where the ground is difficult. With few elements, the non-space was transformed into an atmospheric pocket.

Before it was a plain asphalt paved area
